Black Streaks

Black Streaks

Postby Pettee » Sat Aug 28, 2010 8:12 pm

Ok, I have been gone for a while, and super busy. Boat has not been in the water since June!

Anyway - Black streaks... how the hell do I get rid of them??? I have some On & Off I am going to try, but i know it is harsh compared to some other options. has anyone had them? and if so, how did you get rid of them?

Have you tried acetone? Not as harsh as some may lead you to believe...

2 hours in, decided to use On & Off, on a rag, and more arm strength than I knew i had!!

Got a lotttt done, but taking a little break, and waiting for the boat to dry out from the dew a little bit before I finish the rest... then wash/wax.

I think I have a full day ahead of me!

try mr clean magic erasers. they have a heavy duty one that holds up better. just add water and it will take dirt, black streaks, rust stains, etc off. awesome stuff and non abrasive so you dont have to worry about scratching the gel coat. warning, after you start and you see what this little sponge can do youll get addicted. youll try it on this and that and before you know it youll be doing the whole boat. let me know how it works out, kor

Pettee...sorry to hear you aint been out. We use every excuse to get wet...from concerts at the park across the lake to supper downtown to tubing and just hanging out on the fantail in the lawn chairs with Corona and limes. Or, getting the old lady down below for some afternoon 'napping'. Make it happen...come up with an excuse. My 12 year old son is the launch and retrieval director now...I just drive the truck :239_fishing:

For the black stuff...try some diss...Krud Kutter. Spray on, then after 5 mins hit it with a non abrasive blue scrubby. SOS makes one. I love Krud Kutter. Stuff is great...use full strength, buy gallons, and get a spray bottle. Rinse off with the hose.
