Steering at higher speed

Postby stroke of luck » Mon Jul 26, 2010 9:57 am

Noticed the other day that at higher speed steering to the starboard is not working right. With a quick motion I can get it to react but not a steady turn. This only happens at higher speeds. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Could be a bleeding issue, but something tells me it's a check valve in the helm pump. Let me see if I can get Marc to chime in...

Hey there. Can you let me know your answers to the following questions?

* What is the part number of your helm pump and steering cylinder?
* does the boat have an autopilot pump fitted?
* How old is the boat
* while looking in the helm pump, where is the fluid level set to?
* Has any work been done to the steering system?

thanks
Marc
