Chrome-Moly Cylinders

Postby Bob C » Thu Mar 25, 2010 1:58 pm

Marc,
So an "informed" member over on Great Grady asked me to ask you this question/statement..

ask them why do they use chrome-moly steering cylinders, that always leak and scratch

I rebuild 10 a year!!!!

they need to find a good supply of 316 stainless

Any response? It sounds to me like a lot of his customers are not giving the proper care and attention to their cylinders...

Hey Bob - sorry about the delay in answering this...

To me, it sounds a whole lot like there is some current issues, or lack of maintenance, or, the cylinders in question are older...

This is really hard to answer without knowing the following
* Age of cylinder
* looks (in general, no grime or dust)
* damage. any kind of damage will of course lead to seal failure

If you wish, have the dealer call me direct, I can walk them through what to watch out for

thanks

Kind of felt the same. A lot of people don't realize the cost of the systems, the need for proper maintenance, and the importance that the systems serves. I'll drop him a line and have the guy call you...

Have a great weekend!
